Horse Riding Lessons in Palmdale

All riding levels welcome. Master your riding skills, learn Working Equitation, lease elite horses, and join a passionate community—no ownership required.

Our Program

We offer riding lessons through monthly memberships. Each rider receives the same weekly time slots, ensuring consistency—because real progress comes from regular practice.

Our programs are built for riders who want to improve quickly and are willing to show up and put in the work. We do not offer one-off lessons, as true horsemanship requires steady commitment for both you and the horse.

How long are the lessons?

We offer private lessons (only 1 rider and 1 instructor), semi-private lessons (2 riders and 1 instructor), and group lessons (up to 4 riders at a time). Privates are 45 minutes long, semi-privates 1 hour long, and group lessons are 1.5 hours long.

All lessons count the same towards your membership. You have to pass Level 2 exam to be able to join semi-private lessons, and Level 3 exam to join group lessons.

Do you offer single or one-off lessons?

We don’t offer individual, drop-in lessons. At Hussar Stables, we work on a membership basis because horses — and riders — learn best with consistency. Riding regularly is the only way to build real balance, confidence, and feel.

What is the first step to get started?

Everyone begins with an Intro Lesson. This gives us a chance to meet you, understand your goals, and see how you move and ride. From there, we’ll help you choose the membership or path that makes the most sense for you.

How do memberships work?

Memberships are a minimum 3-month commitment, which allows enough time for meaningful progress. After the initial period, memberships require 60 days’ notice to cancel, as outlined in the agreement.
Your riding times are recurring each week, so you can build a steady routine.

Do I need to lease a horse to ride at Hussar Stables?

Not at all. We have excellent lesson horses that are safe, well-trained, and ideal for learning fundamentals.

That said, leasing a horse is often a dream for many riders, and it’s something we love helping people work toward. Once you’re ready, leasing allows you to build a deeper partnership, progress faster, and truly make a horse your own.

What disciplines do you focus on?

Our foundation is Working Equitation, supported by Alta Escuela and classical dressage principles. This style develops balanced, capable riders and calm, responsive horses — skills that transfer beautifully to any discipline. We will teach you how to handle any horse with a focus on the animal's strength, lightness, and long-term soundness. We will teach you to jump, work with cattle, go on trails, and more.

Do you ride English or Western?

Our barn provides dressage and jumping tack only, because it helps teach correct balance, position, and effective riding fundamentals.

If you lease or purchase a horse, you’re welcome to ride in any style or tack you prefer — English, Western, Spanish, Portuguese. The goal is to give you a strong foundation so you can confidently ride and excel in whatever direction you choose.

Are beginners welcome?

Yes! We enjoy working with beginners who are curious, motivated, and willing to learn. You don’t need prior experience — just a positive attitude and a commitment to showing up consistently.

Do I need to be very fit to ride here?

You don’t need to be in perfect shape to start. Riding will naturally help you become stronger, more balanced, and more aware of your body. We’ll meet you where you are and help you improve over time.

How often do members ride?

That depends on your membership. Some riders come once a week, others ride multiple times per week. What matters most is regularity — having a consistent schedule makes all the difference.

Can I compete if I join Hussar Stables?

Absolutely. Riders who lease or join higher-level memberships can participate in clinics, schooling shows, competitions, trail rides, and camping trips. Competition is optional, but solid training is always the priority.

Are your horses beginner-friendly?

Yes. Our horses are carefully trained, calm, and responsive. Some are especially forgiving and ideal for learning, while others are more athletic and suited to experienced riders. We always match horse and rider thoughtfully.

Do you work with kids?

Yes, we welcome kids who are respectful, focused, and excited to learn. Safety, horsemanship, and good habits come first.

What makes Hussar Stables different?

We focus on quality over quantity. Our goal is to help riders truly understand horses, develop excellent balance, and ride with clarity — not just go through the motions.
