What the First Lesson Looks Like

1
Meet your horse

We match you with a calm, well-trained lesson horse. You'll learn safe handling, brushing, and leading — comfort comes before anything else.

2
Ride with your instructor beside you

Helmet fitted by us, instructor within arm's reach the whole time. Most first-timers are amazed at what they do in one lesson.

3
Get your path forward

Your instructor tells you exactly what they saw and what Level 1 of our 11-level curriculum would look like for you. No obligation — continuing is only for people who love it.

Common Questions

Is it safe for beginners and kids?

Certified helmets fitted by us, beginner horses chosen for calm temperament, a fully fenced arena — and the intro is completely private, so the instructor's attention never leaves the rider.

What should we wear?

Long pants and closed-toe shoes with a small heel. That's it — we provide the helmet and everything else.

What if my child (or I) get nervous?

We start on the ground — brushing and leading — and nobody mounts until they're ready. Plenty of riders spend extra time on the ground first. That's normal and completely fine.

What happens after the intro?

If you love it, riders continue with weekly lessons through our structured 11-level curriculum — real, visible progress from first ride toward advanced riding. If it's not for you, no hard feelings and no commitment.

Where exactly are you?

Inside Hansen Dam Horse Park, 11127 Orcas Ave, Lake View Terrace — 20 minutes from most of the San Fernando Valley, with plenty of free parking.
